Patek Philippe
Aquanaut
5060 - Yellow Gold
The Aquanaut before the Aquanaut...
The very first of its kind, Patek Philippe’s pioneering Aquanaut ref. 5060J marked a turning point for the company. Introduced in 1996 as a limited pre-series ahead of the steel 5060A, it combined the sporty elements of the Nautilus, with a youthful modernity that would define the next generation of Patek collectors.
Cased in 18-carat yellow gold, this early Aquanaut displays the instantly recognisable rounded-octagonal bezel, the deep black lacquer dial is uniquely appointed with applied Roman numerals, gilt minute track, and luminous feuille hands, details found only on this first reference. Fitted to the hottest strap in the game; the khaki Patek Philippe tropical rubber strap, with double folding gold Calatrava clasp. Patek’s self-winding calibre 330 SC.
Accompanied by its Patek Extract from the Archives confirming sale in May 1997, and its vintage box. This rare reference sits at the crossroads of tradition and innovation, and is a cornerstone for any important collection.
