Patek Philippe
Million Dollar Associate
3565/1 - Patek Extract
Produced between 1968 and 1971, the 18ct yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3565/1J was made exclusively for IOS (Investors Overseas Services) and remains one of the largest corporate commissions in Patek Philippe's history.
As part of the firm's incentive programme, associates who surpassed $1,000,000 in sales were awarded a specially commissioned ref. 3565/1J. Each example was engraved "Million Dollar Associate" on the case back, making it one of the most recognisable corporate presentation watches produced by the manufacture. Its slim 34.8mm case remains as elegant today as when it was introduced.
Powering the watch is the calibre 27-460 automatic movement with date, one of Patek Philippe's finest self-winding movements of the period. The case was manufactured by Baumgartner and paired with an integrated woven gold bracelet secured by a distinctive belt-style clasp. The gilded sunburst dial, produced by Stern Frères, features Roman numerals and, on this example, the rare seen IOS logo above six.
Following the collapse of IOS in the early 1970s, the ref. 3565/1J became inseparable from the story of Bernie Cornfeld's financial empire. Today, it is appreciated not only for its understated design and technical quality, but also for the unique provenance that places it among the most historically significant corporate presentation watches produced by Patek Philippe.
