The first Explorer to feature the "SCOC" dial, caseback stamped second quarter 1966.

It's immensely satisfying to find such a perfect example of a 1966 gilt dial Explorer 1016, and this particular watch is starting to show the highly coveted chestnut brown tropical tones. Unlike most 1016's from this era, this vintage Explorer dial has lost none of its gorgeous glossy finish; with the early gilt script debossed within the brown/black lacquer. The original creamy tritium of the hour markers sit perfectly within their serifed borders (and matching Mercedes hands), identify this as a completely unrestored example - a collectors dream.
