Finding a 51 year old Explorer 1016 with its original Rolex box & papers is a big ask. These vintage sport watches were bought for a purpose, and over time, particularly during house moves etc, the box and certificates were often misplaced.

This perfect example was original retailed in Huddersfield on the 30th June 1973, and was meticulously kept with its Rolex box & certificate, green wallet, translation booklet, Everest operating manual, and previous Rolex UK service history. It remained as such, in a private collection for around a decade before being presented to us. 

The MK I 'Frog Foot' dial has developed a uniform patina, with the creamy tritium hour markers perfectly matching the hands. Inside the 36mm stainless steel case, etched into the case back (stamped 1.72) are numerous Rolex service initials and dates. Rolex's self-winding calibre 1570, waterproof to 60m and upgraded to a heavy Oyster bracelet.
