6241 - 14ct Yellow Gold
This 14ct yellow gold Daytona from 1966 is an exceptionally rare and important example of Rolex’s early Cosmograph, and it is presented with its Rolex box and guarantee.
Manufactured from 1966 to 1969, the reference 6241 was produced in very small numbers, with research estimating only 400 examples made in 14ct yellow gold, primarily for the North American market. Particularly appealing here is the champagne dial with black registers, an uncommon configuration within an already scarce reference.
The 6241 is defined by its Mk 1 black acrylic tachymeter bezel and traditional pump pushers, and at 37mm its proportions are ideal today. The 14ct gold riveted bracelet is its original, the movement is the celebrated manually wound Valjoux-based chronograph calibre 722.
For collectors, this reference occupies an especially significant place in Rolex’s chronograph history, representing one of the earliest Daytonas and the foundation for some of the most sought-after gold examples that followed. A wonderfully rare vintage Daytona, with very few comparable examples ever appearing for sale.
