Capturing the refined simplicity of the brand’s post-war design language, the 32mm 18ct yellow gold case is distinguished by swept lugs and a smooth polished bezel that frames a superbly aged champagne dial. The even, speckled patina across the surface gives the watch a warmth that only time can create, complemented by applied gold hour markers and Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 & 12. The subsidiary seconds counter at six balances the layout perfectly.

Apart from the beautiful case and original dial, the real rarity is Rolex’s early automatic chronometer movement, with period-correct engraving and the “Super Balance” rotor — a significant milestone in Rolex’s pursuit of precision. The inside caseback is clearly signed Rolex Geneva Suisse 18k 0.750, bearing all correct hallmarks and serials for the period.

Completed by a rich brown alligator strap with a Rolex gold buckle, this watch embodies the transitional era between Rolex’s pre-Oyster chronometers and the modern automatic wristwatch we recognise today.
