The reference 19018 was introduced in 1977 and is defined by its angular 36mm Oysterquartz case, fluted bezel and integrated yellow gold faceted bracelet. Dating to 1980 from its 6.3m serial, this example features a classic Champagne dial with applied gold hour markers.

Powered by Rolex’s in-house Calibre 5055, the 19018 was in part Rolex’s response to the quartz revolution. The movement was developed and manufactured entirely by Rolex, while retaining the Day-Date’s instantaneous day and date display.

The Oysterquartz has found a renewed following among collectors in recent years, with the combination of its distinctly 1970s design, solid gold construction and unusual place in Rolex history. The 19018, in particular, remains one of the most recognisable and sought-after gold Oysterquartz references, making this example very much on point for today’s collector.
