Patek Philippe
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
5270R-001 - Discontinued
Only made for 3 years, and no longer in production. The ref. 5270 is Patek Philippe's first fully-in house chronograph perpetual calendar. When introduced in 2011 (in white gold), Patek Philippe created a watch that was a fitting successor to a respected tradition of chronograph perpetual calendars, including the historic models 1518, 2499, 3970 and 5970.
By 2015, Patek had explored various dial iterations, finally settling on the elegant style of this watch. The seconds hand extends fully to the dial edge, the tachymetric scale is linked to the minutes chapter ring, while both of the latter are cleanly intersected by the calendar ring. All these aspects had been subject to considerable discussion among collectors with previous versions of the 5970.
This rose gold model with beautiful opaline silver dial was made from 2015, ceasing production by 2017; later rose models have a black dial. Slimmer than its Lemania-based predecessor, this 5270 is also slightly larger at 41mm. Extremely elegant while at once distinctive and recognisable at a glance as one of the world's most important complicated watches.
Make no mistake, this is an exceptionally rare and important watch. Since the beginning of 2019, no fewer than 66 ref. 5970's have appeared at auction. Out of the 66, only seven were of this model (5970R-001 – rose gold, with opaline dial). Among Watch Club's own records, this is the first 5270R we have been offered, amid nine in other metals in total over the past 12 years.
This watch is complete, with original alternate numbered solid rose gold case-back, folding rose gold clasp, dedicated presentation box, tag, and booklets with Patek certificate as supplied by the official UK authorised dealer in 2016.
