Patek Philippe
Nautilus
3800
Recently, we have witnessed an increase in demand for the smaller proportioned Nautilus and Aquanaut, as collectors seek more wearable, understated models.
This first-series Nautilus ref. 3800 with (midnight blue vertically embossed dial) was retailed in Brussels in August 1989 and is offered with its Patek Philippe travel pouch, Patek UK service history from July 2022, literature booklets, and the original Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin.
Introduced in the Autumn of 1981, and sized at 37.5mm, the medium stainless steel ref. 3800 was a more discreetly sized alternative to the larger 40mm Jumbo Nautilus ref. 3700. Both models were produced concurrently, and interestingly, the 3800 was more expensive at retail, due to its dedicated new in-house centre seconds movement, the high-frequency calibre 335 SC, designed specifically for this watch, and recognised for its precision and reliability.
The blue sigma dial has developed an appealing warm patina across the tritium hands and matching hour markers, while the contrasting black date disc is a feature found only on the earliest examples. A truly outstanding vintage Nautilus under our two-year comprehensive warranty.
