This rare "Spider" dial 5513 Submariner from 1985 is the perfect example of the quirks in Rolex collecting... Like "Tropical", "Cream" and "Patrizzi" dials, the Spider effect only appeared with age and many were swapped by their owners to newer, 'perfect' service dials so they have become rarer and rarer over time. This particular example with it's domed plexi crystal sports gorgeous creamy lume markers that perfectly match the original hands. The 'spider-web' crazing in the dial has occured in pleasingly large sections that gloriously accentuate the gloss dial when they catch the light and always serve as a reminder that this is not 'just another Sub'... Like mis-printed 'penny blacks', the charm and value is in the imperfection.
