Made in 1974, this 18ct gold Submariner Date ref. 1680/8 features the most spectacular auburn tropical dial – a natural phenomenon developed over the last 51 years. Sport watches with genuine tropical dials like this are extremely rare, and are considered grail pieces for important collectors. 

The case shows little wear with sharp case lugs, preserved in excellent condition. The case back is engraved "J.J.M", likely the original owner commemorating a significant event. It retains its Plexiglas, is waterproof to 200m and is powered by Rolex's self-winding (superlative chronometer) calibre 1575. Fitted to the heavy 92908 Oyster Fliplock bracelet.
