Explorer II "MK IV Albino"
Ghost Hand "Steve McQueen"
A rare and honest Explorer II "Steve McQueen", featuring a perfect 'MK IV' matte dial with matching creamy tritium lume plots & hands
This vintage Explorer II (manufactured in 1979) is extremely hard to find nowadays with its original 'thin font' stainless steel bezel (as most were routinely replaced by Rolex during service). One of the most iconic vintage Rolex watches in the world, a small number of these 1655s developed a patina, that over time, turned the bright orange 24hr hand white, giving this MK IV dial a rare monotone look.
Retailed in Selfridges on Oxford St in Aug 1981, (fitted its correct '78360' matte Oyster bracelet) and accompanied by a vintage Rolex box, two sets of Rolex UK service history, and vintage Explorer 'Everest' booklet.
