Piaget
Beta 21
Yellow Gold - Warhol
An important historical Piaget that even the great Andy Warhol was unable to secure before it sold out, having to settle for the later 5-Step model.
In today's era of "manufactured rarity", we are proud to offer this truly rare 3-Step Piaget Beta 21 from 1973. A model that was so loved by the legendary pop-artist, that it later inspired Piaget to partner with the 'Andy Warhol Foundation', and officially name their reimagined 2024 release; The Andy Warhol Watch, which retails today for £40,300.
In 1969, around 20 Swiss watch companies came together to develop and launch the first Swiss quartz movement; the Beta 21. Out of the 6000 pioneering movements that were manufactured, Piaget were allocated a mere 80.
Due to the movement's large dimensions, Piaget specially designed a cushion-shaped 45 x 38mm 18ct yellow gold case for this ref. 15101. Regrettably, many were melted for scrap when gold hit a record high in the 1980's. With only 50 yellow gold models like this ever produced, this impressive watch, unworn since its 2023 Piaget service, is one of the rare few that remain in existence.
A time capsule of retro design with its yellow gold oversized case, curved edges and a crisp gold dial with bold black Roman numerals. Fitted to a black Piaget leather strap, fastened by its original gold pin buckle. Accompanied by 2023 Piaget service papers, Piaget travel box and our 2-year warranty.
We don't state this often, but we can honestly say that we will never get another...
