With only 450 pieces made, this original M.A.D.1 Blue was never “launched”, so naturally we're very excited to have a perfect (like new) example for sale here at WatchClub. 

In MB&F's own words, 'in June 2021, without any forewarning, it was simply presented on a short email, accompanied by a few photos, to MB&F’s suppliers and collectors. It was not announced on the brand’s website or social media channels. But that sole email generated a media storm unlike anything MB&F had ever seen'.

The M.A.D.1 was conceived with the same amount of creativity as an MB&F Machine that retail for 250 - $500k, but with an additional constraint, which one could argue is even more challenging: the affordable price point. Developing a movement from scratch would have been too expensive, so modifying a tried and proven base calibre was required. The Miyota 821A movement was chosen for its unidirectional winding system – essential for easy and high-speed rotation of the winding rotor, a key element of the M.A.D.1 design.

The futuristic aesthetic compromises of a 43mm steel exhibition case, and is powered by a reverse-mounted Miyota 812A, so the tungsten & titanium triple-blade winding rotor, with green glowing Luminova stripe is at the top of the exhibition case. Rotate your wrist 45° to read the time on the two rotating cylinders (also luminous), Blue for hours and Black for minutes.
