This rare early ref. 5500 Explorer 'Super Precision' was manufactured in the third quarter of 1963, and its original UK stamped guarantee booklet tell us it sold in the December of 1964. The 34mm case of this ref. 5500 is in excellent condition, as is the early pre-tritium dial (identified by the absence of the letter 'T' alongside the word "Swiss" at 6 o'clock, and gloss black finish, later examples are matt), with gilt font and beautifully toned ivory batons. The perspex glass and screw down crown ensure a water resistance of up to 50m, fitted to the original folded steel Oyster link bracelet with Oyster clasp. Guaranteed by WATCHCLUB for 2 years.
