A rare gold Oyster Perpetual from 1980 bearing the old-style crest of the United Arab Emirates on the dial. Rolex occasionally produced specially-commissioned watch dials for the governments of certain middle-eastern countries; not only is the quality of the printing always exceptional, the provenance of these items makes them highly sought-after by collectors. This one in 18ct yellow gold, must have been owned by an important diplomat or minister. The crest has an eagle and a garland, with seven stars, one for each state of the Emirates, around the centre. A very unusual watch in beautifully clean condition inside and out.
