Watch Club and AF Corse Ferrari team

Since 2009, WatchClub have been partners with Italian motor-racing team AF Corse, sponsoring all the Ferrari events, especially the GT and Le Mans series races. In 2009, the AF Corse FIA GT2 team, comprising Gianmaria Bruni, Toni Vilander, Álvaro Barba, and Niki Cadei, resoundingly won the team championship with a twelve-point lead over nearest rivals, Prospeed Competition.

Over the years, we have befriended many people who are either closely linked with motor racing, or who share our passion for the sport. The affinity between watches and cars is obvious. What better way to for our associates and good customers to get more closely involved with their favourite pastime than to sponsor one of the world’s best-loved racing teams!

This year, WatchClub have extended our support. AF Corse are fielding Ferrari F430s in the GT Open, the GT Italiano, with the Le Mans GT2 Series being the primary focus of the team’s energies. Ferrari do not run their own GT2 team; however, they give the team a remarkable level of financial and technical support, making AF Corse the “unofficial” works team for the Maranello manufacturer.

AF Corse was founded by team principal Amato Ferrari (not a relative of the car manufacturer) in 2002. He had managed his own team since he retired as a professional race driver in 1994. He has steered the team to numerous successes in the few years of its existence, in both the drivers’ and the teams’ competitions.
